Alexie Nicole Sommer is a design director, researcher and environmental impact strategist. Alexie is the co‑founder of URGE Collective, where she leads cultural projects that examine the environmental impact of design, and is also a co‑instigator of Design Declares, a global initiative that unites designers committed to climate action. She is recognized as a Design Council Design for Planet expert and Skills for Planet trainer, working with networks to deliver measurable, data‑driven impact and engaging communication design.
Alexie’s previous roles include Sustainable Human at Group of Humans, Fashion for Good’s Asian Innovation Programme mentor, consultant strategist with Pentagram London, Creative Director at Thomas Matthews and Design Director at The Guardian and The Observer. Her past clients include Interface, Useful Projects, Think‑Up, Constructivist, 100% Design, The Get It Right Initiative, EBO essential beauty oils, Arlette Gold, Foster & Partners, LOCOG, the Mayor of London’s office, British Council, Rix Mix, Saatchi & Saatchi Design and Philips Electronics.
