Reindeer husbandry is the eldest occupation in Lapland, and this traditional livelihood is still important to the region. Reindeer are semi-wild animals, they roam free in the woods and forests, and are collected together only twice‑a‑year for reindeer round‑ups.
At the farm, located to Arctic Circle, reindeer herder has an carefully slected group of reindeer, which owner has trained for sledge pulling and for reindeer races. You will be shown on how to drive a sleigh before setting off for a short adventure. The sleigh ride will be topped up with a reindeer driving licence.
Lapland is home to stories and mysterious traditions. You are about to experience true Lappish magic during the ceremony for crossing the Arctic Cirlce. The ceremony is completed with a certificate for crossing this magical line for the Arctic, the land of the Northern Lights and the Midnight Sun. Lunch will be enjoyed at the farm.
